LIFE Tutoring originated from the passion and enthusiasm of two educators who knew their skill sets could make a positive impact beyond the traditional classroom. Megan and Julie have a combined fourteen years of experience in public school settings, and have taught students of varied backgrounds, needs and strengths. For the duration of their careers, they have offered after-school tutoring to Pre-K through high school students. Together, they discovered there was a need for high-quality, targeted tutoring instruction, conducted by experienced, certified teachers in the greater Hartford area. Megan and Julie decided to take their passion for teaching to the learners who need them. And so, LIFE Tutoring was born!
What Makes LIFE Tutoring Unique?
Megan and Julie continue to deepen and refine their practice in and out of the classroom. Their application of current research strategies, combined with open, engaging teaching styles, create an emotionally safe and academically stimulating environment for learning. Every learner processes information in their own, unique way. The LIFE Tutoring approach honors each learner's specific needs, and builds relationships to strengthen learning. Brain research shows that every child can connect to learning if their academic, social and emotional needs are honored. This builds confidence and can lead to long-term success. Additionally, children who learn strategies specific to their needs can make significant growth in a reasonable amount of time. Confidence + effective strategies are the underpinnings of independence and achievement. Sometimes, a learner is only one strategy away from success!
It is important to note that the tutors at Life Tutoring will go above and beyond for their student learners. Tutors will collaborate with all team members: parents/guardians, the learners themselves, as well as other supportive family members and friends. Open communication and goal setting builds a base upon which learners can thrive. With permission, LIFE Tutoring will also be in contact with the learners' schools and teachers. This will promote consistency and ensure that students utilize and apply strategies in their classrooms that were taught and learned at LIFE Tutoring.
Learning is for EVERYONE. LIFE Tutoring truly believes that every student can connect to learning with appropriate academic support and a positive learning environment. LIFE Tutoring implements an idea known as "Growth Mindset," because we know that all students can learn and grow. We believe in and embrace Growth Mindset so much that we named our seven rooms after its traits: Optimism, Flexibility, Resilience, Persistence and Empathy.
